Chitwan National Park, the first national park of Nepal is located about five hours from Kathmandu by road or 25 minutes by air. It is comprised of 360 square miles of sal forests, grasslands, and marshes. Located in subtropical lowlands, the park is home to a variety of wildlife.
The best time to go on a safari is in the early morning, when the animals are most active and the heat is less intense. Visitors can explore the park on safari hikes, by canoe, or with a jeep safari.
